BLOGS BLOGS BLOGS

Some interesting blogs to consider...

LENSCRATCH is an exciting and good opportunity to showcase your work for free! They offer a submission that is excepted no matter what unless of course your submission isn't correct, but everyone's image is shown.

I have just looked at this very interesting blog about various things on photography. It has a very personal approach and really informal writing which helps you relate to the artist. I have also found some really good websites from here for example:

This website gives you the opportunity to submit work and your portfolio to get featured on their website, I have given it ago and my work will be featured on the website on the 25Th March!!

They look equally exciting and will be looking at these all the time, for ideas and information on photography.

THE FACE PROJECT

Representation:
Representing the Face

Marcio Mascarenhas and Rasmus Vasli, MA  students of London College of Communication came along to the group crit today to help give feedback and advise on our work. Our images that we have produced so far were hung up in the gallery. Below is my image, which I have chosen out of the few I have printed.

Untitled

Our main specifications for the brief is a 10 X 12 colour print, in medium format with the theme of "portraiture".

The idea around my work is to explore the idea of identity. How a face can tell someone a lot about that person's persona and their character and using the narrow depth of field specifically to highlight the detail of the face. I am photographing my family specifically as there will be some connection between them and myself. I am also experimenting with different areas of the house to get a "comfortable" feel and with this image particularly exploring the use of landscape as being a contrast view of a portrait. The image being in landscape in this case demonstrates a subtlety of the surroundings around her and creates an atmosphere of domestic environment.
